We're happy to answer your questions

Obviously some questions need a face to face appointment to resolve, but to try and help you we have answered a few of the more common questions below.

What should I expect on my first visit?

Your initial assessment will last approximately 45 minutes to an hour. Your physiotherapist will ask you and your child questions in relation to medical history and current presentation. They will then be examined, thoroughly, with aims to diagnose and formulate a treatment plan. Children should wear suitable clothing eg. T shirt and shorts or ballet/gymnastic leotard, to allow for free movement and affective assessment.

Children generally receive advice or exercise sheets to address their presentation on their first visit.

Your physiotherapist may discuss the need for follow up treatment sessions as required.

Prior to your initial assessment you will be sent an information letter and forms related to consent. It is important that you sign these prior to your treatment.

Your child should be accompanied by an adult who can legally consent to their treatment.

Can my child receive physiotherapy at Physio4Children even though they have an NHS physiotherapist?

You are entitled to both receive physiotherapy on the NHS and receive additional physiotherapy from an independent physiotherapist. You should ensure that your independent physiotherapist is State Registered and Chartered and has experience in the field of Paediatrics.

At Physio4Children, with consent, we ensure effective communication with all NHS professionals involved in your child’s care. This will ensure your child benefits from the provision of both services.

How long do the sessions last?

Initial assessments generally last between 45 minutes to an hour. Length of follow up sessions are dependent on the age of the child and the condition with which they present.

Costings for reports or travel are available on request.
